There seem to be many people with this problem with Rockwell and
US Robotics. One known problem is that
the WAV	file shouldn't be stereo. If it is, you need to use the
scripts/convert_wav_to_rmd.sh or a variation thereof.

Just as a last test, record a RMD and check you can play it. Then
rmdtopvf, then pvftormd, and try to play that. If it works, try to add
a pvf -> wav and wav -> pvf.
