Vgetty reports: Huh? Junk in the line?

Are you sure noone else is using the line (no dial-out) ?

noone is doing a *proper* dialout.

Could be a modem changing speed for any bizarre reason ?

What happens if you
   - switch off the modem, then on again
   - kill vgetty
