sendfax won't work

Hi!

I tried to install mgetty and sendfax under RH6.1 to be able to send
faxes. My problem starts, when sendfax should start to dial: either the
program stopps with "initializing modem" or "cannot set fax station ID".
Though i have never worked with a modem before, i don't know if it's a
problen with the modem or with my configuration. I hope someone can give
me a hint.
