this is an excellent document to help you. also, following some links
from the mgetty pages can help.
you do not need 'custom scripts' you just have to configure what is
already given to you.
read the documentation in the mgetty config files as well as man pages
(esp. man pppd)...
the mgetty list is not _exactly_ the right forum for these issues
(which often have much more to do with ppp configuration) ...
but i have no trouble trying to help you if i can...
i have a redhat linux 5.2 machine accepting dialin for ppp service using
pap authentication to shadowed system passwords. once i found all the
nuggets of info i needed it was easy...
