mgetty gets strange after /bin/login linux 2.2.14

Looks pretty fine from the mgetty side.  DCD is set to "high", everything
else is as it should be.

Does it work if you use the standard serial ports (trying to nail down
problems?

Test with a standard serial port, and a different serial cable.

No.  Mgetty is not running while the shell is active.  But test this by
entering "stty sane" and see whether that improves things.
