mgetty with external Motorola Modem

Gert,
            Yes, S0=0 - and the modem does answer the call.  The modems
don't seem to establish communications beyond the initial pick up of the
phone line.

Note: at this point the other modem hangs up.....and I never see the login
prompt or welcome banner....

I think the problem is the 2 modems never sucessfully talk to each other.
Intit string ?

I swapped out the Motorola Modem for an an older USR 14.4 internal ISA
model, and was able to sucessfully start mgetty, and to start a PPP session.
However I would like to try and get the Motorola working as it is a faster
modem.
