  Basically, I'm just wondering if I can send/receive faxes using mgetty 
and my Supra FaxModem 28.8 V.34.

You can! I am using mgetty 0.99 on a NeXT-Computer with a Supra  
FaxModem V.34.
Sending Faxes works fine, and receiving faxes works almost always.  
Sometime a fax is not detected as a fax. But I think this happens  
when the sending faxmachine does not send a correct fax-tone.
