What is this?

Hi! 

I have a Cyclades Cyclom-Z with a couple of modems,
to serve dial-in users.

This is a part of the log when starting mgetty.

What does the lines marked ** mean?

The modems are connected directly to the
octopussy-cable attached to the card.
