Interestingly, I've run into this about two weeks ago. The fix is to
increase the command timeout, 'cause vgetty doesn't yet distinguish
between "normal" AT commands and "ATD".
Marc knows about it, though. To cite from "voice/ToDo":
28) Fix bug with timeout on dial out. port_timeout is surely to short
(I didn't see it either, Marc had to point it out to me :) ).
