     The way to find out the firmware on USR modems is with ATI1. I'm not 
     sure what the German checksums are, or what their current code is. 
     Your best bet is probably to phone them; the only number I have is 
     89-99-22-00.

what's the way to read out this information? ATI7 gives only:
