Problem receiving some faxes

The +FHNG: response from the modem signals "I could not manage to do a
successful fax handshake with the other end". Unfortunately, there is
nearly nothing mgetty can do about this -- it's a modem firmware issue,
that (usually) can only be fixed by a firmware upgrade. Sometimes there
are some modem registers to fine-tune fax timings, but this is quite
uncommon in "cheaper" modems.
I'd ask GVC whether they know about problems with this specific fax
machine at the sending end.
