I have done some serious testing with my MicroLink 56k pro (F/W 1.53)
today, and my results so far are:

  - fax reception from ZyXEL modems on the sender side works always
    (tried 12 times, 12 successes)

  - fax reception from "plain old fax machines" seems to be problematic
under certain conditions. I haven't been able to run enough tests
yet: I need your help here.

-> If you're in Germany (preferably in Munich) and have a plain
paper fax machines and a couple of $$ to spend for Telco charges,
please send me a test fax to 089/35655073 (ELSA modem, dedicated
number for this test), AND (!!!) write me an e-mail stating

       - what time the test was done
       - what fax number the test came from (so I can find it in the logs)
       - whether it worked or not (if not, be as specific as possible)
       - what error code the sending fax reported (if at all)

       - important: whether the calling fax is sending a "beep tone" (CNG)
into the line. This might be an important factor to determine
whether it will works or not.

Thanks for your help! Oh... please only send during day time. I have
switched on the modem speaker, and this is pretty disturbing when I want
to sleep...

(Results of this test will go to ELSA, and will hopefully lead to product
improvements, so it's in your own interest do do some testing...)
