notifying - forwarding a fax

This may be a FAQ but I looked through man mgetty and didn't find
anything obvious at the first glance:
I'm running mgetty-0.99 of some vintage (with great success as a fax
machine under FreeBSD 2.2.x) and I would like to get notify of a fax
reception and also want to forward the fax immediately to my
other email address (I take into account that this may cost me
an additional dialing out phone call).
Sure, I could do that with cron and I've settled out to
write something that does an ls -lt /var/spool/fax/incoming and compares
it with ... you know how this could be done.
But I found a keyword 'notify' in my mgetty.config and added 'kuku'
as an argument which is obvious that it is my user name.
Only I don't find that keyword documented and what it does
anywhere.
Sorry for a lengthy message on a maybe often been discussed issue
but I thought it would be the direct way to ask :-)
