Well, maybe they changed the machine?  Things like this happen...

Look at what came out of the remote machine (image ok, no image at all,
heavily distorted image).  Check with a different modem and same image
on your side.  Check whether you changed anything on your side (new
ghostscript version, different postscript generating software).
