Well, yes. But I'm fairly sure that it is not patented, since in that case
it wouldn't do them any harm to make the specs public (they are already by
patenting them) and charge royalties.

I don't think they *can* patent it either, since ADPCM is something fairly
widespread, and they just use some variant of it.
