mgetty-1.0.0 & Zoom 33.6

I just installed and tried mgetty for my dial-ups.  I have both
Cardinal 33.6's and Zoom 33.6's.  Mgetty works great (as is) for the
Cardinals, but I can't seem to get the Zooms right.  If I leave as-is,
the cd and cs lights stay on and the system load goes up over 1.xx until
init disables the port.  I have played with the init-chat settings but
can't quite get it right except with AT&F.

init-chat "" OK
         - tr,cd,cs lights up and the modem may or may not answer.
init-chat "" ATS0=0Q0&D3&C1 OK
         - cd,cs lights and system load skyrockets
init-chat "" AT&F OK
         - everything works fine. tr,cs lights and modem answers

The only thing is that when I do a "w", the Cardinals report something
like 38400/ARQ/28800 but all the Zooms report is 38400.  Can I get the
Zooms to report the connect speed?

If the answer is in the docs, then I have overlooked it.
If it matters, I'm running Linux 2.0.27 and a Digi Xem serial board.
