Question about CallerID for analoge lines.

Hello, 

In my modem manual the feature of Caller ID is not mentioned
at all. I read in the mgetty docs that to enable caller ID
you have to a) compile it in  (make sense :-)) and b) to add
the AT#CID=1 to the chat sequence. 

Before I start complaining that Caller ID doesn't work I
have a question. If the response to AT#CID=1 is a mere OK,
does that in fact mean that the modem is capable of getting
the caller ID info, or could it also mean that the command 
has been reserved for future use but until that time sends 
an OK as to not upset me? :-)
