DAUTO_PPP

Hi guys...

I just formatted my linux box and installed slakware 3.6. I had mgetty
installed and working with my slakware 3.3. now the mgetty package is
working i think but ppp doesn't.

I compiled in -DAUTO_PPP and when mgetty picks up the modem the log file
says everything is ok till

setenv: 'CALLER_ID=none
setenv: 'connect=33600/ARQ/V34/lapin/v42bis

It stops there. This is where I think pppd should take over but it doesn't.

My autoppp line in login.config is as follows:
/AUTOPPP/ -     a_ppp  /usr/sbin/pppd  auth -chap +pap login/ kdebug 7 debug

the windows box complains as follows:
"The computer you are dialing in to does not respond to a network request"


I compiled with make HAS_SHADOW=1

kernel 2.0.35
pppd version 2.2 patch level 0

my /etc/options are as follows:

auth
-chap
+pap
login
:192.168.0.5
debug
modem
crtscts
proxyarp


What gives.
