if you have mgetty 1.1.19 and up, locate the program "mid" (in the source,
it's in mgetty-1.1.*/tools/), and run it on all ports that might have a
modem:

mid ttyS1 ttyS2

- on the port with the modem, you'll see a lot of output, on the other
one(s), you'll only see the AT commands.

NOTE: ttyS1 is "COM2" for DOS. The first serial port is called ttyS0.
