I was talking about Linux only.  For FreeBSD and Solaris, cua is the right
device (I haven't yet found out what's the difference on those platforms,
but I've received many reports that cua works always and tty only
"sometimes").

Does that mean that mgetty *doesn't* work on /dev/cua/a? Confusing.
