Bad.

Try to get a logfile from Exchange. If that one works in class 2 mode,
I'm very much interested to see what they do differently. If they run the
modem in class 1 mode (what I suspect), don't bother - in class 1 mode,
the modem firmware can be very dumb, because the host CPU does all the
work.

But the sender and your modem can't agree upon actually starting a page
transfer.
Try different sending fax machines, and different modems on your end to
pin down the problem. I'd say that this is a firmware problem that only
MultiTech can do something about.

Hmmm, that's just the basic modem initialization, no *FAX*
commands/responses. So this is pretty useless :-(
