Modem questions

     As you can see, I live in the U.S. Subsequently, we have a LOT of
strange and amazing equipment to chose from over here......


	My question concerns determining which modems to purchase for my LINUX
systems. I just purchased a Harmony 56K voice/fax/data modem that has the
Texas Instrument chipset as the firmware.

	I have yet to do anything other than standard PPP and straight dial-in
(via mgetty). But I am wanting to incorporate Marc's vgetty, and also use
it for incoming/outgoing faxes. Therefore, my questions....


	How can I tell if mgetty/vgetty will recognize, utilize, and have full
functionality of a modem? Is there a particular ATI command? or firmware
set? etc? that I should be looking for?
	Yes, I am a member of the mailing list, but I've found that the HOTMAIL
servers I am using are blocked as a SPAMMER. (damnit!)
