PPP on AIX4.2.1

I have been able to get ppp to work under AIX 4.3 with the following
setup:

login.config:

/AutoPPP/ -  a_ppp  /usr/sbin/pppattachd server authenticate pap inactive 300

/etc/ppp/pap-secrets:

myusername * mypassword

Dialin PPP interface(s) set up via smit.


Note that this was on AIX 4.3.  I did also try on AIX 4.2.1, and failed
miserably -- pppattachd needs pppcontrold to work, but pppcontrold either
refuses to start or dies fairly soon after being started.

If you get it to work on AIX 4.2.1, please tell me what you did.
