I've hads the same problem some time ago with g3tolj.
I firuged out that the default-pagesize (option -pa) was set
too low for DIN A4 paper size. The default is 10.95 (inch) but it
has to be 11.7 inch. I suppose that there might also be a wrong 
default value in g3topbm.
Btw. g3tolj produces a far better output quality on my LJet 
than g3topbm -l does.
