ksh is the "korn shell", which is what RealMen(tm) use for entering
commands into their Unix/Linux system. Only wimps use bash.

No, I have no idea why the RedHat guys would make ksh necessary for
mgetty, maybe one of the contrib/ scripts doesn't work with bash, who
knows. I don't think it is required, but who am I to know?

line. Don't just talk about it.

No. More likely it's a case of "my modem doesn't like your modem",
curable only with a big sledge hammer (but on the other hand, while
the USR Sportster series are crap for fax, they are usually quite
good for data...).
