Hi,

I had the same problem some days ago. I would suggest you to delete
(or rename) the pap-secrets file. If the file doesn't exist, pppd uses
your normal usernames and passwords.

I just use my normal passwd file, so I hadn't to configure shadow
password support. I think you have to compile pppd with a special
option or something like this. Just read the pppd readme file.
