.. no, the caller never logs in, just the computer knows the who the
caller is and can execute a program for the local user to give information
on that caller... For example:
Say you are a receptionist and you receive over one hundred phone calls
per day, each requiring you to bring up information on the caller (a
business client).. Won't it be easier to have that client's file come up
automatically?
Some medical journals claim that it costs some where from $3 to $8 dollars
to pull a chart every time someone calls.. (employees, time, etc.) this
is just a step further into the computer/modern age, where the computers
save businesses more money by handling simple, repetitive tasks.
My personal need, however, is to simply inform me who is calling via a
message from samba, while I'm using my win95 computer.. Nothing much, but
it'll be a very nice and convenient tool for me. I'm sure many other
people will find this feature helpful and a very powerful tool.
