mgetty swallows chars ?

Hi !

Does anybody know why mgetty (or the Zyxel 2864ID) "steals"
some characters from /etc/issue at login ?
What I mean is:

mgetty is set up, an incoming call is answered,
and the caller sees somewhat like this on the screen:

 Welx 2.0.30 !

 elfie@login:

The first line should normally be "Welcome to Linux 2.0.30 !",
the string "come to Linu" is missing, although the file
/etc/issue contains the line correctly.
It does not dpend on the line in the issue-file,
if I write in another line, maybe 1234567890, there are
also characters missing.

If I use my Zyxel U-1496 EG+, all works well.

Mgetty works, with the above-mentioned exception, very well
with the Elite 2864, no errors, no problems.

The used firmware of the Elite is the 2.07d for German DSS1/Euro-ISDN.

Is this a known bug, or does anybody know a solution ?
I can't find any hints about it in the manuals or the FAQ.

Regards, Heinz.
