There's a big code cleanup coming up on the Courier (once x2 is out in
Europe). This includes bugfixes and any enhancements suggested. If
you've got a problem faxing, please mail me with the log file and (if
possible) information on the remote fax (make, model, software used if
it's a fax/modem, etc). Also, if you've got any enhancements you'd
like to see, please let me know.
Please email me direct to avoid cluttering up the mgetty mailing list
(sorry for the blatant commercialism here, Gert :-). If you're having
problems with the USR mail gateway, please mail me at
steve@dop.prestel.co.uk.
Cheers, Steve

Hmmm, not very surprising. Problem with the USR modems is: if something
fails, they lower DCD (carrier detect), and *then* send the error message.
Unless you are "ignore-carrier"'ing this, you won't see the message, and
just get a "mysterious failure".
Now, +FHNG:25 means "I can't talk to the other end, it doesn't understand
me". I've seen this occasionally when faxing from the USR Courier to an
Elsa Rockwell-based modem, but rarely otherwise.
Please try with different receiving machines, and see whether that will
improve things.
