If I remember correctly, one had to explicitely enable DTMF tone detection
while not in playing or receiving mode. I have no idea, though, whether
vgetty does this. Marc?

The ELSA ISDN/TLV.34 is a good modem, but I haven't tested voice yet.
It does report caller and called phone number fine, and mgetty knows how
to extract it, so that will work.

You could do that for a start (just play "silence").
