with ppp-2.3.7 and linux kernel 2.0.36
I have 2 little mysteries,

the first is these entries in the log,
when a dial-in user connects.

May 4 06:27:59 bara1 modprobe: Can't locate module
ppp-compress-26
May 4 06:28:00 bara1 modprobe: Can't locate module
ppp-compress-24
May 4 06:45:29 bara1 modprobe: Can't locate module
ppp-compress-26
May 4 06:45:29 bara1 modprobe: Can't locate module
ppp-compress-24
May 4 06:45:29 bara1 modprobe: Can't locate module
ppp-compress-26
May 4 06:45:29 bara1 modprobe: Can't locate module
ppp-compress-24
May 4 07:29:56 bara1 modprobe: Can't locate module
ppp-compress-26
May 4 07:29:56 bara1 modprobe: Can't locate module
ppp-compress-24
May 4 07:29:56 bara1 modprobe: Can't locate module
ppp-compress-26
May 4 07:29:56 bara1 modprobe: Can't locate module
ppp-compress-24

Could someone please tell me what's going on?
I thought, I had updated the kernel, and installed the modules?
P.S. the link still appears to work ok, with M$ clients.

second is the use of nodetach,
where is the correct place for this option?
does it replace -detach?
can I place it in /etc/ppp/options ?
or on the command in /usr/sbin/ppp
e.g.. #exec pppd nodetach?
currently I'm using the second way (ppp) to
fire up the dial-in users ppp connection, but when i do a ps
I get, the following, which looks a bit weird?

  103 ? S 0:00 /usr/local/sbin/mgetty -n 2 -D ttyS3
  101 S1 S 0:00 -bash
  231 S1 S 0:00 -bash
  100 S0 S 0:00 -bash
  173 S0 S 0:00 -bash
  306 S2 S 0:00 -bash
  341 S2 S 0:00 -bash
  174 S0 S 0:00 /usr/sbin/pppd nodetach
  232 S1 S 0:00 /usr/sbin/pppd nodetach
  342 S2 S 0:00 /usr/sbin/pppd nodetach
  399 p0 R 0:00 ps -ax

thanks for any assistance
