to whom it may concern,
I am a Linux developer who is trying to add voice mail extensions
to my caller ID application (xcallerid, it's on freshmeat.net). I have looked through
the vgetty sources, and I am extremely confused as to how to send sound
files to the voice modem.
I am using a USR Sportster voice 56K modem. From the sources, it seems that
I have a Rockwell chipset. To send a file to the modem's DSP, it seems that
all I have to do is write the bytes to the modem, but I'm not sure how to
differentiate sound files from modem commands. Do I simply have to switch to
online mode? If so, what's up with the DLE shielding?
thanks,
Joe Yandle
