Problem with 5600zdxv modem and voice

I've been looking into vgetty source code to find out why my 5600ZDXV
modem does not get detected, and figured that it was because of the ATI
response code *not* being inside the libvoice/detect.c code.....

Well, further hunting discovered that this modem uses the #V command set
to control voice operation, whereas ALL the other modems appear to be
making use of the +V command set.

Does someone know if I can get this multitech going? Has anyone done
this - or am I stuck with sending this thing BACK to the supplier
(please don't make me do this)??? I've looked at the #V and +V command
documentation from multitech and it looks different enough to pose a
problem ....

Did #V come out first, or was it a 'cheapo' replacement protocol for the
+V set?

Regards
