Multitech 5600 ZDXV - vgetty / rmd question

Hi all - I've just got the latest stuff for mgetty+vgetty (AND the
patches) in order to get a voice mail system going with the Multitech
5600 ZDXV...
No beans so far though... At the moment, I've got no vgetty running, I
am simply attempting to get my message greeting files set up correctly.
i.e converted into RMD format.
This is what I do:
wavtopvf <file>.wav <file>.pvf
pvfspeed -s 7200 <file>.pvf temp.pvf
pvftormd Rockwell 2 temp.pvf <file>.rmd
OK, Now I'm supposed to have a RMD file that can be played on the modem
right?
So I do this:
vm play -s <file>.rmd
And after a short pause (3-4 seconds) all I hear is static/noise coming
from the modem.
Can anyone help with this?
