"Flash" simply means to hook the phone for a short while, like you might do for call waiting in the US. They put flash buttons on phones for people who were too clumsy to hook the line for less than a second :). (Personally I find systems that use flash for second lines to be annoying, because they take so long to hang up after you put the phone on hook...) -- Brian S. Julin
