Data conversion problems.

Brian, thanks for the info on the different commands I can use.

When I run the #VCI command, I get this:
at#vci?
ROCKWELL;ADPCM;8

OK

Great... so then I run the other command - ERROR, so I had a quick look through the PDF documents that multitech provide
regarding their chipset.  Again... nada - this command does not appear to exist.

This seems to suggest that 8 bit ADPCM (little obvious isnt it?) should work - but I know this
fails.... I suppose it could be the 'vm play' command playing up... but don't know anything about it...

I'm at the stage now of returning the modem I think, and getting a USR model in order to make life
simple - do you know if the USR Voice Faxmodem Pro - External Modem #5605 works with vgetty?
