Depends on whether you want to use the USR for voice. Normally, with USR, if
it doesn't say voice in the name, it doesn't do it - ie the Sportster 56K
Faxmodem and the Sportster 56K Voicemodem are very different (although the
voice modem does fax).
Otherwise, command sets are vendor-specific. I had to harass USR tech support
for a few days just to get the URL I finally wanted. The stuff I pointed at
isn't even in the USR .pdf documents for the modem. I expect Rockwell has
the same documenation setup. After all, how many people who buy a Sportster
or a Winmodem will ever want to know what fax 2.0 commands are available to
them? :)
But, for whatever voice modem(s) you end up getting, always get the full
documentation from the manufacturer (I'm now on a similar quest with
logitech for their color QuickCam stuff)....
