TIOCMBIS failed: Input/output error

Hi,

I have a dial-up server running with RedHat Linux and mgetty, most of the
time it works fine, however with this one particular clients machine (Win9x)
it disconnects (seemingly randomly) and continues to cause problems for a
while. I have found that when this problem happens I get this error message.

Here is what i got from messages, if someone could just tell me what this
means please?
