Can record only one voice message, and OGM is very soft

TO all,
I've recently installed mgetty+sendfax 1.1.20 on my Linux x86 box
(2.0.33 kernel) and it *almost* works. The modem is a Spirit 336L
voice/data/fax modem with a Rockwell chipset.
I've got it receiving faxes OK, and I've even got it to the point
where it will accept an incoming voice call, play the OGM and and record
the response.
However, I've got two problems stopping this from being exactly what I
want!
Firstly, after receiving one voice call, vgetty goes crazy trying to
reinitialise the modem and finally gives up. It won't do anything until
I've stopped/started vgetty again. I've played with various AT&D and ATQ
settings to no avail. I'd like to try extending the DTR toggle delay,
but it's not obvious how to do this. I've searched the archives on this
one, but no-one else seems to have reported this.
Secondly, the OGM is very, very low in volume. I've tried increasing
it using SOX, but this doesn't seem to help. The beep is nice and loud -
so it must be able to be done. There was one other person in the mailing
list who had this problem, but there didn't seem to be an answer posted.
I've got a log file, but it is HUGE, so I've put in on my web site at
http://www.southeren.com/craig/vgetty_log.txt
Any ideas?
Regards,
Craig Southeren
