AutoPPP and userid

I'm using AutoPPP to let users to connect via ppp to our Linuxbox
from Win95 PC:s and use it as a gateway to our IntraNet.
It works quite well but I have not been able to set things so that the
logged user would appear in the userlist of Linuxbox.
Actually there is no indication at all that the user is connected,
except by looking into the logfiles.
I would like to be able to use w or who commands and see all logged in
users.  I have tryed various combinations in login.conf to no avail.
Maybe I'm just dumb :)
