Hi,
depending on the modem, you will need ATZ or AT+FCLASS=0 to make sure the
modem does know that you want to build a DATA connection.
Earlier mgetty releases always kept the modem in AT+FCLASS=0 state, but
that breaks some modems' adaptive answering capabilities.
