List,
I am attempting to run mgetty on modems via a CycladesYeP-16 card with
USR Sportsters modems. Took me a while (I am not the smartest admin in the
world, but I enjoy my hobby) to get the modem init right and the modem
answering properly. I followed documentation on several websites. I now have
an answering modem. I am trying to use AutoPPP features. The caller (Win95
user) is disconnected, and the log shows why. The log of the session follows:

It appears to me /bin/login is being asked to verify the login for user
"Welcome to bah abh", which, of course, will not exist and the connection
fails. Seems this *must* be an obvious error on my behalf for someone who
understands how this configuration is put together. Between the broken links
on the web and mutually exclusive answers I have found, I have no clear
understanding of the configuration. 10 answers provided as the "this is the
way" muddy the waters.
Does anyone spot this log msg as an obvious mistake in configuration?
Any answer would be greatly appreciated. Millions do not ride on the line,
but my sanity just might. I thank you in advance for your time.
