Thats mostly what I want to do!

hmm.. an external program like that could replace all the dialin.config
code in mgetty.  That'd be very helpful for me, because I can't get the
damn dialin.config file to work!  Mgetty seems to completely ignore it.  I
have debugging set to 9, and I don't see anything about comparing the
number to that file.  All the caller id information is there, and I have
that 'get-cnd-chat "" AT\\O OK' in my mgetty.config.. nothing seems to
work.
