Hi all,
before everything else, thanks to Gert, Joerg and Marc
for helping me in solving this issue : how should I configure
mgetty and a Zyxel 2864i to enable standalone
fax reception (eg without the PC running).
Actually, I misunderstaned the doc of my Zyxel.
The D/V button only send DRAM faxes to the
attached printer, but it doesn't generate a RING.
However, when I press it, some activity happen
on the serial line. mgetty log start to show some
mess, but no RING signal. The script then abort
in timeout. I will ask Zyxel to implement a D/V
press to simulate an incomming call. Maybee
they will do this :-)
Next, I did RTFM the Zyxel doc again and again,
and I found (with the help of Joerg) that my init
string was wrong. In fact, initializing the modem
in fax mode will simulate the RING, but only if
the init is a "normal" fax 2 or 2.0 init.
If I send the AT+FCLASS+FZF=3 (fax to DRAM),
nothing happen.
So now I'm stuck with 2 init strings :
- the one I use before shutting down the PC,
setting the modem to "FAX->DRAM", with
auto-answer after 2 rings.
- the one used by mgetty, setting the modem
back to "normal" class 2, generating the RINGs
to grab a possible fax waiting in DRAM.
I know how to make this init strings, but what
is the correct method of sending the first one
during the shutdown, just after mgetty get stopped ?
I think some script in /etc/rc.d/rc0.d/Kxxxx
would do. What should I put there ? Just
echo "AT......init string......." > /dev/ttyS1
??? is this the correct way ?
