ZyXEL Elite 2864ID problems sending fax from voice mode

I think the only workable way might be to take this modem and hit the
vendor on the head with it...

Sorry.  If the documented way to go into fax mode doesn't work, what should
we do...?

It goes back to online mode, *and* forces a re-train.  But for a
"re"-train, you have to have a connection first.
