I do not understand vgetty completely. However, the flaw you reported
in DTMF doesn't happen with ZyXEL 2864I (the only modem I have
at this time). Some people have reported that with other modems
it sometimes doesn't work.

There have been patches in that area. Install 1.1.20 plus the
