Can mgetty count rings and do something useful with it?

Hi all,

I was just wondering if there was a way to have mgetty count the number
of rings it received say greater than 4 but less than 7
for instance and if it received 2 calls within 2 minutes that contained
more than 4 rings but less than 7 it would launch a diald or something
session. I have a couple of machines that run diald on them to connect to
the net. They have static ip so if they are connected to the net I can use
ssh etc to get into them. I am trying to beat the telco out of a long distance
call to tell them to connect or waiting till they connect to do something else.

Any ideas??

TIA
