Ok, I have only tested with a ZyXEL 2864I with a much lower firmware
version (2.11 I think). If you have the time, can you downgrade ?

No idea, yet.

no.

As you can see in the log, it's when vgetty sends AT+VSM=4,9600 or
similar command that the ZyXEL doesn't answer with ok. For me this
looks like a firmware bug. Now, you could remove the wait for OK
in the source and tell me if it works.

Which doesn't explain why it works normally.
