If you go through Samba, then the printing subsystem (lpd) and then
fax queuing, it is possible that your /etc/printcap adds a final
linefeed.

I doubt this is the correct answer, but to know, can you describe how
the fax goes from Samba to the faxing subsystem, and in what format ?
