Problem receiving a fax from one location.

The modem says "oh, it is a fax!"...

... and then gives up, with "can't make a successful handshake".

Classical case of my-modem-doesn't-like-your-modem, and there is nothing
you can do except try to upgrade the modem's firmware, and see whether
that helps.
